Erkrath (dpa / lnw) – An 89-year-old caused an accident in Erkrath near Düsseldorf on Saturday and then drove on with serious injuries. According to the police report, the senior turned left at an intersection and rammed a 66-year-old driver in her vehicle who had the right of way. This tipped on its side, the driver was trapped and freed by the fire brigade. She was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

According to the information, the person responsible for the accident was found by the police after a short search. He too was taken to a hospital. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the 89-year-old for hitting the road and endangering road traffic. According to the police, there are “doubts about the health suitability for driving motor vehicles” with the man. Therefore, the driver’s license of the 89-year-old was confiscated.
