Dortmund (dpa / lnw) – After the Dortmund police shot a car on Christmas Day, the Recklinghausen police and the Dortmund public prosecutor’s office are asking for information from witnesses. Findings, photos and videos related to the incident early on Sunday morning could be helpful to clarify the background and course of the shooting during a control, according to a joint statement on Friday.
According to the prosecutor, at least four police bullets hit a car after two young men aged 17 and 18 fled from a control and are said to have ignored the request to stop. Nobody got hurt. The getaway car then stopped and the two young men were provisionally arrested. There was initially no information as to why the police officers shot the car. For reasons of neutrality, the Recklinghausen police had taken over the investigation. The car is currently being examined in detail, said a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office.
