Kevelaer (dpa / lnw) – An ambulance with a seriously injured driver on the bed had an accident in Kevelaer while driving to the hospital – just one crossing behind the previous accident site. The ambulance, which was traveling with blue lights and a siren, was rammed by a small car when crossing an intersection, the fire department said on Friday evening.
After the accident, the car was thrown into a ditch at the intersection of Weller Landstrasse and Walbecker Strasse. The 39-year-old driver suffered serious injuries and was flown to the hospital by helicopter. The crew of the ambulance was also injured and taken to hospitals. The patient from the ambulance was picked up by another ambulance.
The woman had also had an accident on Weller Landstrasse – one crossing earlier. Her car collided with another car on Friday afternoon. Her two children, who were in the car, and the driver of the other car were slightly injured and also taken to hospitals, it said.
