Erkelenz (dpa / lnw) – An Auschwitz wagon only reached its location in Erkelenz (Heinsberg district) for a play on Monday after major difficulties. The wagon, with which 8,000 people were deported during the Nazi era, was to be brought to the town hall on a heavy-duty transporter for a performance of the drama “Zeitspiel – Das Mädchenorchester von Auschwitz”. As employees of the city-owned Kultur-GmbH reported on Tuesday, the transporter was initially stuck at a bollard, so it only continued on a different route and a crane was used. Several media reported.

The director wanted to set up the wagon in front of the town hall in connection with the play. In the end, two heavy-duty cranes heaved the car, which came from the railway museum in Cologne, to the desired location. It will remain there for two performances until Thursday morning. They are performed on the occasion of the pogrom night on November 9th.
