“Silent Night” instead of fan chants: where things can get heated at the weekend, things get contemplative on Sunday: tens of thousands of people meet in Dortmund to sing together in the stadium.
Dortmund (dpa / lnw) – On the third Sunday in Advent it will be Christmassy in Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park. A choir of more than 71,000 visitors will transform the sold-out stadium into a sea of ??lights on Sunday (2 p.m.), as the organizer Borussia Dortmund announced. It would be the largest scenery at BVB Christmas singing so far. Alexander Klaws, Jo Marie, the gospel choir Rejoice, Tom Gaebel and Sasha will also perform.
The program includes traditional German Christmas carols such as “All Years Again” or “Silent Night” as well as English-language classics such as “Driving Home for Christmas” or “Jingle Bells”. But it doesn’t work entirely without football: the BVB anthem “You’ll never walk alone” is also sung.
Christmas singing had been canceled for the past two years due to the corona pandemic. According to BVB, 71,082 tickets were sold this time – more than ever before. According to the organizers, it is the largest Christmas carol in Germany.
