Heinsberg (dpa / lnw) – A driver and his passenger crashed into a tree with a vehicle near Heinsberg and were seriously injured. The 20-year-old left the L228 with his car on Saturday morning for reasons that have not yet been clarified and drove into the tree, the police said. The vehicle was torn apart and thrown into an adjacent field. The driver was taken to a university hospital by rescue helicopter. The 21-year-old passenger was taken to hospital in an ambulance. The country road between Braunsrath (Heinsberg district) and Heinsberg remained closed for around three hours.
