Essen (dpa / lnw) – People in North Rhine-Westphalia can expect a weekend with changeable weather. NRW is under the influence of a small low over southwest Germany, which brings warm, humid air. Over the course of the day, individual thunderstorms with heavy rain will gather in the south and east of NRW. Local storms with more than 30 liters per square meter of rain in a short time, in places also small-grain hail or gusts of wind up to 80 kilometers per hour are possible, said the German Weather Service (DWD) on Friday afternoon in Essen.

According to the forecast, the situation will calm down by Saturday, and the thunderstorms will subside during the night. On Saturday afternoon there is only a low probability of local heavy rain in East Westphalia. It will be predominantly cloudy, partly clear and mostly without precipitation. The maximum temperatures are between 25 and 27 degrees.

Sunday starts cloudy with some rain locally. In the afternoon it will be increasingly cloudy from the west and later there will be showers of increased rain. It stays warm during the day, between 25 and 29 degrees, reaching 22 degrees at high altitudes.
