Bedburg-Hau (dpa / lnw) – Residents of a care facility in Bedburg-Hau in the Kleve district were brought to safety on Saturday from leaking chlorine-based cleaning agents. Nobody got hurt. The substance had leaked from an overturned 20-liter canister in the basement of the house. According to the fire department, the caretaker noticed a pungent odor and immediately alerted the helpers.

The emergency services picked up the cleaning agent and brought contaminated objects outside. Subsequent air measurements in the basement and in the living areas above would have shown no evidence of excessive chlorine levels, it said.
