North Rhine-Westphalia: clouds and wind on Shrove Monday – but hardly any rain

Cologne/Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) – The revelers in the Rhineland can expect a dry Monday on Rose. “Tomorrow the revelers will have a very good day,” says Thomas Gerwin, an employee of the German Weather Service, on Sunday. Shrove Monday is supposed to be cloudy but mostly dry. Only a little drizzle is therefore not completely excluded. The temperatures should be around 12 degrees.

According to the DWD employee, it will also be a bit windy: In the carnival stronghold of Cologne, the wind should blow at up to 35 kilometers per hour and in Düsseldorf at up to 45 kilometers per hour. “But no Jecke has to worry that his carnival float will be blown away,” says Gerwin. In the night to Tuesday it will be cloudy to very cloudy, there may be some drizzle again. Temperatures are around 7 degrees. However, the wind weakens during the night.

According to Gerwin, it is still very cloudy around Cologne and Düsseldorf on Violet Tuesday. In the morning there is a chance of drizzle again. During the day, however, it loosens up; then it should stay dry for the most part. The thermometer shows about 12 degrees again. The wind blows at around 25 kilometers per hour. These are good prospects for a successful conclusion to the carnival, says Gerwin: “The revelers have already experienced much worse.”
