Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The Corona guarantee programs of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia have not been exhausted by far. This emerges from a response from the NRW Ministry of Finance to an FDP request published on Thursday.
Two years ago, the Düsseldorf state parliament approved three guarantee programs with liability releases from the state in favor of NRW.Bank with a total volume of up to 15 billion euros. A total of 46 applications with a total volume of 378.4 million euros were made for two of these programs in favor of commercial economy and public companies, the Ministry of Finance reported. The third program in favor of communities hit by the pandemic has not yet been used. The state government has “no knowledge as of today” about loan defaults with possible effects on the state budget.
The same applies to direct state guarantees beyond these programs, which have so far been granted in the amount of 891.4 million euros. In 7 of these 54 cases, federal and state guarantees were involved in parallel, the ministry said. With the NRW guarantees alone, loans of almost one billion euros were made possible – including the federal and state loan shares, a total of around 2.8 billion euros.
The guarantee programs of the state and the state-owned NRW.Bank were launched as an accompanying component of the direct help from the Corona rescue package. You should ensure that lending does not fail in the crisis due to a lack of collateral.
The state parliament launched the credit-financed Corona rescue package after the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020. He envisaged a so-called special fund to be financed through debt with a maximum allowable drawing limit of up to 25 billion euros. This should cushion the consequences of the Corona crisis.
