Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) – The number of new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants reported within seven days was 628.9 in North Rhine-Westphalia on Friday. This emerged from the data published by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). Within 24 hours, 22,379 confirmed new cases and 32 deaths related to the corona virus were added.
The day before, the seven-day incidence in NRW was 637.6, a week earlier 465. Four weeks earlier, a value of 226.8 had been reported.
However, this information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations and transmission problems can lead to the distortion of individual daily values.
