Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the corona incidence for North Rhine-Westphalia as 318.0 on Thursday. On Thursday, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants was 300 within seven days. On Friday a week ago it was 248.8. The incidence in NRW is still higher than the national average: the value for Germany was given as 247.8 on Friday.

According to the RKI, 12,455 new infections and 18 deaths related to the corona virus were confirmed in NRW within 24 hours.

However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because by far not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
