Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The corona incidence has again fallen slightly in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 357.1 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days on Wednesday morning. The previous day the incidence was 365.0, a week ago it was 392.7. Four weeks ago, the RKI had reported a value of more than 500 for NRW.

However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

According to the RKI information from Wednesday, there were 14,701 new confirmed corona infections in NRW within one day. 26 new deaths were added during this period. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 26,891 people have died in connection with Covid-19 in the most populous federal state.
