Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The corona rules in North Rhine-Westphalia with the obligation to wear masks on buses and trains as well as in medical and nursing facilities continue to apply for the time being. Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) announced on Thursday that the country would not make use of the possibility of ordering stricter protective measures. The state ordinance will remain unchanged after October 1st.

“The pandemic situation is currently characterized by a largely stable situation, even if the numbers have increased in the last few days. We are monitoring this development very closely, especially with regard to the burden on hospitals from corona patients and staff shortages. At the moment the numbers are but low compared to early summer,” said Laumann, according to the announcement. Stricter measures, such as a general obligation to wear masks in publicly accessible interiors, are currently not proportionate.
