Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – A medal made of real gold: The local club “Düsseldorfer Jonges” honors ex-Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) on Tuesday (September 13) with the Big Golden Jan Wellem Medal. Ex-Finance Minister Lutz Lienenkamper (CDU) will hold the laudatory speech, as the “Jonges” announced on Friday.

The medal is one of the highest honors that what claims to be the largest home club in Europe awards. It is therefore awarded for “outstanding services” to the city of Düsseldorf. The entrepreneur Josef Klüh was most recently honored with the medal in 2019.

Laschet was Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia until October 2021 and is now a member of the Bundestag.
