Gelsenkirchen (dpa/lnw) – A fire broke out on Monday in a park on the site of the closed Consolidation colliery in Gelsenkirchen. The fire in Consol Park had spread to an area of ??1700 square meters in the afternoon, the fire brigade announced on Monday evening. The fire was extinguished in the late afternoon. The grass probably caught fire because of a discarded cigarette. The police are investigating.
