Bonn (dpa / lnw) – After a mix-up of chemicals, chlorine gas arose in a laboratory at the Bonn University Hospital and slightly injured five laboratory employees. Those affected were taken to clinics for observation on Friday, said a clinic spokeswoman. The rooms in the pathology department of the university clinic were cleared as a precaution and ventilated by the fire brigade. The laboratories should be accessible again in the afternoon and the work in the laboratory room directly affected should continue on the same day, said the spokeswoman.

According to the fire department, the alarm went off at 1:15 p.m. A spokesman for the fire brigade said that a total of 500 milliliters of two liquids reacted with each other and released chlorine-containing gas. The “General-Anzeiger” had previously reported.
