Iserlohn (dpa / lnw) – Company employees in Iserlohn (Märkischer Kreis) arrested two suspected metal thieves with forklifts and thus prevented them from escaping. On Monday morning, another employee observed on the monitors of the video surveillance system how two unknown men with a van stopped next to containers on the company premises. When the alleged thieves began to unload metal from the containers into their vehicle, several employees with forklifts arrested the car with Gelsenkirchen license plates, the police said on Tuesday.
When officers arrived, the alleged metal thieves had already loaded around 250 kilograms of material. The younger of the two suspects (36 and 45 years) was reported in Gelsenkirchen. The older man has no permanent residence in Germany and was therefore temporarily arrested, it said. After the 45-year-old had paid bail, he too was released. The investigation into a particularly serious case of theft from production and storage rooms continued.
