Essen (dpa / lnw) – For the Pentecost weekend, meteorologists in North Rhine-Westphalia are expecting heavy thunderstorms, heavy rain and some gusts of wind. Meanwhile, it remains warm at up to 28 degrees, as the German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Saturday.

On Saturday it will remain largely cloudy, especially in the north mostly without precipitation. However, isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible coming from the mountains. The temperatures are between 24 and 28 degrees.

For the night to Sunday, the meteorologists expect increasingly showery precipitation, at the latest on Sunday morning it will be thunderstorms. According to the DWD, heavy rain is also possible during this time. The lows on the thermometer are between 15 and 9 degrees.

Wind gusts and local storms are also expected during the day on Sunday. Showers and sometimes strong thunderstorms are expected to move across the country from the south-west. According to the DWD, the local storm risk due to heavy rain decreases towards evening. The maximum temperatures are between 21 and 24 degrees.

During the night of Whit Monday, showers and thunderstorms pass and there is mostly no precipitation. According to the DWD, Monday itself will be calmer and without heavy rain. However, there may be light showers – at 19 to 23 degrees.
