Hamm (dpa / lnw) – In the case of a climate lawsuit by a Peruvian farmer against the energy company RWE, according to the environmental organization Germanwatch and the Higher Regional Court in Hamm, representatives of the court, experts and other parties involved in the process got an idea of ??the situation on site. Germanwatch announced that those involved in the proceedings were there on Wednesday (May 25). The organization supports the mountain farmer Saúl Luciano Lliuya in his lawsuit in Germany. The higher regional court confirmed the trip on Friday with several experts, two of whom were appointed by the court. Germanwatch announced a press conference on the visit to South America for Monday (30 May).
Mountain farmer Saúl Luciano Lliuya is asking RWE to pay 0.47 percent of the cost of protective measures for his house and village. The plaintiff accuses the German company of being partly responsible for climate change through the CO2 emissions produced. Lliuya believes the consequences will be melting a glacier in the Andes and the meltwater threatening his home and village.
The Essen Regional Court had still rejected a civil claim in the first instance.
