Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – In the collective bargaining conflict in the North Rhine-Westphalian metal and electrical industry, IG Metall wants the pilot agreement from Baden-Württemberg to be adopted. The collective bargaining committee spoke out in favor of this, the union announced on Friday in Düsseldorf. The takeover negotiations with the employers’ association Metall NRW will take place next Tuesday (November 22nd).
In Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg, employers and trade unions had reached an agreement early on Friday morning in a fifth round of negotiations. The collective bargaining agreement provides for wage increases of 5.2 percent by June 2023 and a further 3.3 percent from May 2024 over a period of 24 months for the 3.9 million employees in the industry nationwide. At the beginning of 2023 and beginning of 2024, the employees will each receive 1,500 euros as a tax and duty-free inflation compensation bonus.
According to the union, around 900,000 employees nationwide had participated in warning strikes by the time of the hearing on Thursday. In North Rhine-Westphalia alone, IG Metall counted more than 126,000 employees from over 1,000 companies on strike.
“The pilot agreement brings significantly more money into the wallets of the employees in a difficult time,” said the district manager of the IG Metall NRW and negotiator Knut Giesler, according to a statement. The tax-free inflation premium quickly leads to relief, and the table-effective increase strengthens purchasing power in the long term.
