Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The corona incidence in North Rhine-Westphalia is just under 400. On Wednesday morning, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 392.7 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days across NRW. A week ago (August 10th) the value was 395.5 new infections.
However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
According to the RKI information from Wednesday, there were 16,333 new confirmed corona infections in NRW within one day. 28 deaths were added. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 26,759 people have died in connection with Covid-19 in the most populous federal state.
