Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The corona incidence in North Rhine-Westphalia remains at a level of just under 400. On Friday, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 398.6 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days for NRW. The previous day the value was 397.5, a week ago (12 August) it was 390.1.

However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

According to the RKI information from Friday, there were 13,550 new confirmed corona infections in NRW within one day, and there were 40 deaths. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 26,824 people have died in connection with Covid-19 in the most populous federal state.
