Bielefeld/Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) – Iraqi judicial staff are interested in the deradicalization programs in the prisons of North Rhine-Westphalia. The North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Justice announced on Thursday that a delegation from Iraq would be in Bielefeld until Saturday. Prisoners – some with Iraqi roots – answered the guests’ questions in the prison in Biefeld-Senne.
Bielefeld University, the aid organization Terre des Hommes and the regional government of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq have been working together for the past two years to politically and religiously deradicalize young prisoners in Iraq.
