Verl (dpa / lnw) – Kitchen furniture manufacturer Nobilia has expanded its business despite high energy prices. The company, based in Verl in East Westphalia, increased sales last year by 11.9 percent to 1.66 billion euros. As before the corona pandemic, business abroad was the growth driver, as the company announced on Friday. Exports increased by almost 14 percent to 896.3 million euros. Domestically, there was an increase of almost 10 percent to 762.8 million euros.
“We experienced a year in which the corona pandemic had less of an impact on the economy, but instead new challenges arose in the form of drastically rising energy prices, high inflation and increasing uncertainty among end consumers,” says the CEO, Lars Bopf, according to the announcement. “We were able to record sales increases in almost all major export markets,” said Bopf. So Nobilia is not dependent on the development of a single market.
The family business from East Westphalia traditionally does not comment on profits. The number of employees increased by 250 to 4534.
