Dortmund (dpa / lnw) – A 56-year-old, who is said to have killed his wife in Dortmund and then committed suicide, had mental problems and may have asked in vain for admission to a psychiatric ward. The extent of his mental problems is not yet clear, prosecutor Milena Klement said on Tuesday. According to “Bild”, the man had asked to be admitted to a specialist clinic the day before the alleged crime, but had been rejected. The prosecutor added that this open question is also part of the ongoing investigation.
According to “Bild”, the man in the psychiatric clinic in Dortmund reported delusions last Friday and stated that he felt the urge to do violence to himself and others. He was turned away with the information that he should contact his family doctor on Monday. According to the prosecutor, there is no indication of delusions according to the current status of the investigation. Witnesses who were to be questioned about “marginal events” would also be questioned about the man’s psychological problems.
The 56-year-old is said to have killed his wife. According to the autopsy, the 42-year-old died from blunt force trauma to the head, Klement reported. The man had called the police to his apartment on Saturday morning and asked for help. When the officers were in the stairwell, he jumped out of a window on the second floor of the apartment building and died.
