Bielefeld (dpa/lnw) – A medical emergency involving a truck driver led to a two-hour closure of the A2 motorway in the direction of Dortmund on Monday afternoon. The police noticed the truck driver because he was traveling on the autobahn at just 30 kilometers per hour, according to the Bielfeld police. However, an attempt by a patrol car driving behind the truck to persuade the truck driver to stop failed. The drive was only stopped when two other patrol cars gave a stop signal from the front. However, it ended at the central barrier.
The reason for the strange behavior of the semitrailer driver became apparent a little later: the 30-year-old had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance immediately after the forced stop, where it was found that he had suffered a serious medical emergency and was therefore unable to drive. The A2 was closed for around two hours for the accident recording at Bad Eilsen.
