Lemgo (dpa / lnw) – A civil dispute among neighbors over a crowing rooster ended in court in Lemgo with a settlement. “Hahn Magda can stay,” said the district court on Thursday. In the proceedings regarding the Hahn held in Bad Salzuflen, the parties agreed on the installation of noise protection measures. A resident had gone to court because, according to WDR, the neighbor’s rooster crowed up to 200 times a day and disturbed his peace. It was the fourth trial in this matter. “It remains to be wished for the parties that peace will now return,” the court said after a hearing of more than two hours.

According to the court, the defendant keeper undertook to “apply suitable, effective and professional noise protection measures to the enclosure leading to the chicken coop”. Its effectiveness is checked by a specialist company – on the plaintiff’s balcony, which also bears the costs. The parties also agreed on a cost sharing for the noise insulation: the neighbor wants to contribute up to 3000 euros if a specialist company is commissioned. If the chicken keeper takes over the noise protection himself, the neighbor contributes half. If the measures are not carried out, the owner faces a fine of up to 100,000 euros.

The brawler’s name is “Magda”. The owner mistakenly assumed that the poultry was a hen and then stuck to the name, wrote the WDR.
