Essen (dpa / lnw) – After Ronald Lünser left early on June 30, 2022, the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) will have a new two-person board. The Board of Directors and the VRR Association Assembly decided on Monday evening in Duisburg’s Mercatorhalle that Gabriele Matz, as Spokeswoman of the Board, should temporarily manage the VRR administration. This was announced by the VRR on Tuesday.

Matz has been with the company for 35 years. Previously, as an authorized signatory, she headed the departments of financial management, investment promotion and committee management. She was appointed by the Board of Directors for the period from July 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023. In the future, she will be responsible for the commercial and legal areas of local transport management. From January 1, 2024, the position will then be filled with external support. José Luis Castrillo was confirmed as VRR board member for another five years. The business economist has been responsible for tariffs and marketing for eight years.
