November is considered a busy month on the highways. Especially at peak times, drivers have to reckon with disabilities. According to the motorway company, there are at least no new major construction sites in NRW – but a number of existing ones are causing traffic jams.
Cologne/Hamm (dpa/lnw) – There will be no additional major construction sites on the motorways in North Rhine-Westphalia in busy November. “The Rhineland branch of Autobahn GmbH used the generally low-traffic holiday season in October for various construction work,” spokesman Helge Wego told dpa. In November, a month with a known higher traffic volume, no new major construction sites are planned.
The spokesman for the Westphalia branch of Autobahn GmbH, Bernd Löchter, made a similar statement: There, too, the existing large construction sites will remain. “Towards the end of the year the number of construction sites decreases,” he added. In November, there are not necessarily more traffic jams than usual, but “it bumps more during rush hour times”. This is not least due to the fact that drivers have to get used to bad weather and darkness, keep more distance and sometimes brake earlier, he explained.
However, as part of the existing, longer-term construction measures, traffic disruptions could not be avoided, Wego added. The following traffic disturbances must be expected in November in the area of ????the Autobahn GmbH Rhineland branch:
– In the Cologne area, the conversion of the Heumar motorway triangle is causing bottlenecks at the intersection of the A3, A4 and A59.
– On the other side of the Rhine, the A61 in the direction of Venlo will be closed between the Erfttal and Gymnich triangles and between the Kerpen and Bergheim-Süd junctions until mid-December due to roadway rehabilitation.
– As part of the construction of the new Rhine bridge in Leverkusen, the conversion of the Leverkusen-West motorway junction is progressing. However, disruptions due to the high volume of traffic must always be expected there.
– In the Aachen area, the lane in the direction of Düsseldorf is closed on the A44 from the Aachen motorway junction to the Broichweiden junction due to the six-lane expansion. Traffic will be routed in two lanes across the oncoming lane.
– On the A544 between Würselen and Aachen-Rothe Erde there is still only one lane in both directions.
– The roadway on the A4 between the Aachen and Aachen-Laurensberg interchanges will be renovated. However, two lanes can still be used there in each direction.
– There will also be bottlenecks in the western Ruhr area along the A40 between the Duisburg-Rheinhausen and Duisburg-Hafen junctions, particularly in the area of ??the Neuenkamp Rhine bridge.
– The ADAC North Rhine names the A1, A3, A40 and A46 motorways as the traffic jams in the state. “These four highways have traditionally been among the highways that are particularly congested in North Rhine-Westphalia over the past few years,” said spokesman Thomas Müther of the dpa. The biggest problem is the bad condition of several bridges. Massive investments would be made up for in this decade. The following applies: “Construction time is traffic jam time.”
