Oldenburg (dpa / lnw) – Goalkeeper Pelle Boevink from VfB Oldenburg has signed a contract with second division soccer club SC Paderborn, but will play another season on loan for the third division promoted team. Both clubs announced this on Tuesday. “We managed to reach an agreement with SC Paderborn from which all sides – the clubs and especially Pelle Boevink – benefit,” said Oldenburg’s sporting director Sebastian Schachten.

The 24-year-old Dutchman Boevink played for FC Twente Enschede and FC Groningen in his home country before moving to Oldenburg via the regional league club SSV Jeddeloh II. At VfB, in the first third division game last Saturday against SV Meppen (1-1), he was given preference over Bundesliga-experienced Sebastian Mielitz. “Pelle is a stately size and with his courageous, attacking goalkeeping style he fits in perfectly with our football. We will follow his development closely this season and look forward to working together,” commented Paderborn’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth on the commitment.
