Biddinghuizen (dpa / lnw) – After the fatal canoe accident of a Wuppertal family in the Netherlands, the police found no traces of another boat. There is no evidence of third-party negligence, the police said on Monday evening in Biddinghuizen. There will therefore be no criminal investigations. Last week, the family had an accident with a canoe on the Veluwemeer, about 75 kilometers northeast of Amsterdam, for unknown reasons. The father (42), the mother (32) and a daughter (5) died. Only the seven-year-old daughter survived, she was able to save herself on a buoy.

“Everything indicates that the canoe’s capsizing is the result of an accident in which no other parties were involved,” the police said. The police had examined the canoe for damage and also spoke to the surviving daughter. According to the police, it is difficult to determine the exact cause.
