Essen (dpa / lnw) – After the long-awaited return to the 3rd division after 13 years, the traditional football club Rot-Weiss Essen wants to expand its stadium. “After the summer holidays, the Essen City Council will deal with this issue,” said CEO Marcus Uhlig at the general meeting on Sunday: “The start of construction could take place in 2024. It is an idea that construction will be completed by the start of the 2026/27 season becomes.” The stadium on Hafenstraße will then have 27,000 seats. It currently offers space for around 20,000 spectators.
