Lüdenscheid (dpa / lnw) – Even before the start of the actual tender, the Westphalia autobahn presented representatives of construction industry associations on Wednesday with the basics of the planning for the new construction of the closed Rahmede A45 autobahn bridge. Elfriede Sauerwein-Braksiek, branch manager, said the aim was to provide potential contractors with important key data at an early stage in order to speed up the process as a whole.
The planned award procedure was also presented to the associations. The new bridge construction is to be advertised “functionally”. Contractors are given a free hand in many areas. “We order – put simply – a piece of bridge,” said Sauerwein-Braksiek. According to a spokeswoman for Autobahn GmbH, it is not yet clear when the tender will be published. Those responsible had decided that the new bridge should be ready no later than five years after the closure – that would be the end of 2026.
The Rahmedetalbrücke on the A45 – the most important connection between the Ruhr area and Frankfurt am Main – was closed last December after serious damage was discovered. The existing bridge is to be blown up in December and then replaced by a new one. The closure causes congested alternative routes in and around Lüdenscheid.
