Essen (dpa/lnw) – Snow and slippery roads led to accidents and traffic jams on some roads in Sauerland on Tuesday morning. A truck crossed the highway 45 southbound near Olpe in the morning, a police spokesman said. The emergency services were able to guide the other vehicles past the hard shoulder at the site. There were also minor traffic accidents at other points along the Sauerland line, as well as on the A4 between Olpe and Cologne. In large parts of the country, however, the roads initially remained quiet.
According to the German Weather Service (DWD), people should expect sleet during the day. There is a risk of ice at maximum values ??between three and six degrees. Up to 15 centimeters of fresh snow could also fall in the mountains. During the night sleet and snowfall will move south and southwest.
On Wednesday it will mostly remain dry in the north, while it will still snow in some parts of the mountains in the south and rain at lower altitudes. The temperatures are between three and six degrees.
