Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – After a stabbing at carnival in Düsseldorf’s old town, a then 17-year-old was charged with triple attempted manslaughter. The process is scheduled to begin on August 15, as the Düsseldorf district court announced on Monday. The act, along with other acts of violence in the old town, caused a nationwide sensation.
According to the indictment, the then 17-year-old was traveling with a friend of the same age on Düsseldorf’s Burgplatz and got into an argument with another group. According to the investigation, after the buddy had hit someone else’s nose until bloody, there was an argument that was “conducted with considerable brutality by both sides”.
The 17-year-old finally pulled out a knife and stabbed two opponents. Then he and his buddy are said to have stabbed, kicked and punched a third victim. The accomplice is charged with two counts of dangerous bodily harm.
After a public search for the main perpetrator, the two 17-year-olds turned themselves in to the police.
