Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The Düsseldorf fire brigade freed ten people from a burning apartment building on Saturday morning. Two of them are seriously injured, according to the fire department.
An apartment on the third floor caught fire on Mauerstrasse in the Golzheim district. When the fire brigade arrived, the stairwell was already full of smoke, so a total of ten people had to be freed from the burning apartment and the neighboring apartments using a turntable ladder. According to the fire brigade, two seriously injured people were found in the fire apartment itself.
The fire was quickly extinguished, but the apartment is no longer habitable. After a check by the fire brigade, the remaining residents were able to return to their adjoining apartments. The police are now investigating the cause of the fire.
