Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – In North Rhine-Westphalia, there was a significant increase in tax revenue in the first seven months of the year compared to the previous year in the state treasury. According to NRW Finance Minister Marcus Optendrenk (CDU), revenue was 20.8 percent higher than in the same period last year.

The result of the May tax estimate is likely to be exceeded for the year as a whole, according to a report prepared at the request of the SPD parliamentary group for the budget and finance committee of the state parliament. The state treasury recorded particular increases in import sales tax with a plus of 118 percent and in taxes on racing and sports betting (plus 156 and 139 percent, respectively). In the case of the largest revenue item, wage tax, revenue grew by 7.8 percent to 37.9 billion euros.
