Gelsenkirchen (dpa / lnw) – A ten-year-old was seriously injured when two cars collided at an intersection in Gelsenkirchen. The boy was sitting in the passenger seat of his 37-year-old mother and got the airbag triggered by the impact, the police said on Thursday. Rescue workers took the child to a hospital on Wednesday afternoon with injuries to the upper body and head. The woman’s car and the second vehicle involved, owned by a 56-year-old, were no longer roadworthy and were towed away.
