Meckenheim (dpa / lnw) – Four people were injured in two rear-end collisions near Meckenheim (Rhein-Sieg district) on Autobahn 61 – two of them seriously. On Thursday afternoon, according to the police, a 33-year-old drove his semi-trailer truck in the direction of Koblenz shortly before the Meckenheim junction onto a second semi-trailer truck standing at the end of the traffic jam. The 33-year-old and his 26-year-old passenger were seriously injured.
A short time later, a sprinter hit a car on the opposite lane in the direction of Venlo. The sprinter driver (21) and the car driver (58) were slightly injured and taken to the hospital. There were initially considerable delays in both directions of travel, with the lane in the direction of Koblenz remaining completely closed for a while. Heading south was diverted. Police recommend avoiding the scene of the accident.
