Krefeld (dpa / lnw) – At a meeting of around 50 Ukrainian refugees in a parish hall of the Liebfrauenkirche in Krefeld, 13 people were injured by pepper spray. It was initially unclear why the tear gas was released, a police spokesman said on Sunday evening. Following tips from witnesses, two suspects, aged 14 and 10, were questioned. As the investigation progressed, observers also recognized a 13-year-old. As part of his questioning, he stated that he had made a “robber’s ladder” for his friend so that he could spray the pepper spray in the community hall.

According to the information, 13 people were slightly injured at the meeting early Sunday evening, they complained of eye and respiratory irritation. Ten of them were treated at the scene and three were taken to a hospital for outpatient treatment. The police are investigating.
