Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – According to a court ruling, the authorities rightly banned an AfD member of parliament from owning a gun. The lawsuit by the AfD politician against the withdrawal of his gun license was rejected by the Düsseldorf administrative court on Tuesday (Az.: 22 K 7087/20), as a court spokeswoman said on request.
The court referred to the gun law, which was tightened in 2020. The court found that there were reasonable doubts about the reliability of the AfD MP in terms of weapons law.
The plaintiff is not only involved in the AfD and its youth organization Junger Alternative, both of which are monitored by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. He is also involved with the Leverkusen association Publicatio and its Arcadi magazine, which are classified as right-wing extremists by the NRW Office for the Protection of the Constitution and are mentioned in the report by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution.
The decision cannot be generalized, it is a case-by-case assessment, the spokeswoman emphasized. Appeals against the judgment are still possible.
