Mülheim an der Ruhr (dpa / lnw) – A woman was critically injured in her apartment in Mülheim an der Ruhr and her spouse was arrested. The 56-year-old had locked himself in with his 50-year-old wife on Wednesday, suspicious noises came from the apartment, as reported by the Duisburg public prosecutor and the police in Essen. Police officers kicked in the door and found the suspect and his wife. The seriously injured were taken to a hospital by rescue helicopter. Also on Thursday she was still in acute danger of death.
The criminal police secured extensive evidence at the crime scene. She secured a striking tool – presumably the murder weapon. The investigators did not initially say what it was exactly. No information was available on the motive for the crime. A homicide commission is investigating the German suspect, who has been provisionally arrested, on suspicion of attempted manslaughter.
