“Go Big” has already found its way back to screens. “The price is hot” too. With the “Wheel of Fortune”, another 90s game show is now celebrating its TV comeback. After her cancer illness, none other than Sonya Kraus took on the job of the letter fairy.
The retro trend on German television continues. RTLzwei is bringing back another TV classic with the game show “Das Glücksrad”. Basically, nothing should change in the well-known rules, but the moderation of the format should.
The two “Wheel of Fortune” spinners known from the 90s, Peter Bond and Frederic Meisner, will not be part of the party again, nor will the former letter fairy Maren Gilzer. Since Jan Hahn, who had already led a new edition of the show on RTLplus from 2016 to 2018, has now died far too early, the viewers can expect a completely new moderation team. Well, almost completely anyway.
Comedian and “Quatsch Comedy Club” founder Thomas Hermanns takes on the job at the wheel. The task of turning the letters on the guessing wall, however, falls to none other than Sonya Kraus. For them, the mission actually means a little déjà vu. After Gilzer left the “Wheel of Fortune” in 1998, Kraus slipped into the role of assistant on the show for around four years.
The 48-year-old can therefore look forward to returning to her old place of work. Especially since she can currently celebrate having been given a second life. After her breast cancer diagnosis, Kraus is now continuously on the road to recovery, which she regularly shares with her fans on social networks.
Incidentally, the “Wheel of Fortune” is not the only TV comeback that RTLzwei wants to score points with in the coming TV season. The broadcaster is also bringing the advice show “Ingenious next to it” back to the program – but “with a modern twist”, as the broadcaster explained.
