The third season of the Netflix series “Bridgerton” is eagerly awaited. But there is now a damper for fans: Apparently, the character Daphne Bridgerton will not appear in the new episodes, as actress Phoebe Dynevor explains.
Phoebe Dynevor has hinted that she won’t be returning for Bridgerton season 3. The actress suggested in an interview with Screen Rant at the Sundance Film Festival that viewers may have to do without the popular character Daphne Bridgerton.
Dynevor dropped the bombshell when asked if there would be any “exciting dynamics for Daphne” in the upcoming season. “Unfortunately not in season three. Possibly in the future,” said the 27-year-old. “But I’m just excited as a spectator for season three.”
The industry portal “Deadline” is said to have learned from sources that Dynevor is said to have fulfilled its contractual obligations. Netflix has not yet commented on this. It also remains open whether Daphne might make an appearance again in later seasons.
The first season of “Bridgerton” was about the love story between Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset – played by Regé-Jean Page. Dynevor only appeared in a few episodes in season two, but Page left the show after season one. The second season revolved around her brother Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey)’s search for a suitable wife.
The third season of “Bridgerton” will focus in particular on the love life of Lady Whistledown or Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), as the actress announced via Instagram in May 2022. Production began in the summer of 2022. It is not yet clear when Netflix will show the new season.
