The rupture between Podemos and Sumar has also reached Galicia and has already left its first consequence. The until now Secretary of the Community Organization, Gloria Alonso Domínguez, has resigned from her position and has withdrawn as registered to join the Yolanda Diaz project.
Gloria Alonso communicated her decision to the state and Galician leadership of Podemos last Monday, December 11, announcing that she was leaving her position as secretary of the organization and also as a militant, and that same day she made her integration into Sumar official.
In a telephone conversation with EL MUNDO, he confirmed that it is a “considered decision” that he has taken in view of “the latest political events.” “I think he identified me more with Sumar’s space,” he explained, without wanting to go into more details of his decision.
He did recall that in the last general elections he had already presented himself as number two in Sumar’s candidacy for the Senate for the province of Pontevedra, so this integration into the new project “was a logical step.”
The loss of Gloria Alonso has led Podemos Galicia to make decisions to fill the position left by the former Morada militant in the Galician leadership. The Organization Secretary is now occupied by Susana López, from Ferrol, until now Secretary of Finance.
Gloria Alonso’s decision was made public by Podemos this Thursday and confirmed by the person affected. It just coincides with the day on which Sumar Galicia presents the 50 names that make up the project in the community, among whom are two prominent figures from other parties, the PSOE and the BNG.
Thus, former councilor and former socialist deputy Juan Díaz Villoslada has joined Sumar, who in 2017 had chosen to lead the Galician PSOE and days ago asked to leave the party. Also Manuel Barreiro, who until February of this year was spokesperson for the BNG in the A Coruña town hall of Teo.
