Podemos and PSOE have requested the president of the Government of Aragon, the popular Jorge Azcón, the dismissal of the recently appointed director general of Justice, Esmeralda Pastor Estrada, for what they consider “apology for Francoism”. The new general director, proposed by Vox, appears on her social networks in front of a flag of pre-constitutional Spain.

For this reason, Podemos has demanded Jorge Azcón “to immediately and immediately terminate” Pastor, who was appointed last Thursday, along with 26 other senior officials of the PP-Vox Executive.

In a statement, the purple formation affirms that it has seen, “like many Aragonese citizens”, with “astonishment and extreme concern”, how on their social networks “the new head of the Autonomous Administration in matters of Justice poses proudly in front of of the flag of the Franco regime”.

He adds that it is a “completely illegal flag that symbolizes the more than 40 years in which our country was plunged into a regime of terror, isolated from the world after a bloody civil war that left hundreds of thousands dead, missing , exiles, hunger and setbacks at all levels”.

In its writing, said formation has recalled the words of its own spokesman in the Cortes of Aragon, Andoni Corrales, in the plenary session of Azcón’s investiture, recalling a German expression: “If there is a Nazi at a table and 10 people who respect him There are 11 Nazis on that table.”

And he adds: “Today we see that Jorge Azcón has gone far beyond sitting at a table with a well-known fascist but, as a reward, he has appointed her general director in his government.”

Podemos has also linked the appointment of Pastor with the words of the spokesperson for the regional government, Mar Vaquero, who explained at the press conference after the Governing Council that the appointments were “a reflection of the plurality of Aragonese society.”

According to Andoni Corrales, “in our institutions there is no room for the presence of people who are against human rights, democracy and freedom.” For this reason, he hopes that Azcón “proceed immediately to dismiss someone who should never have held any type of political responsibility.”

For her part, the spokeswoman for the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Mayte Pérez, has regretted the appointment of Pastor, for “flaunting Francoism and posing without qualms with an unconstitutional flag on her social networks”, in an image taken in 2017. At the same time time has demanded his immediate removal from President Azcón, whom he blames for a new profile similar to that of the president of the Parliament of Aragon”.

The socialist spokesperson wondered “what type of professional profile is chosen by the president of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, to represent a sector that above all must ensure the preservation of democratic principles and the rule of law”.

Mayte Pérez recalled that “after more than two months of delay in forming a government and another two weeks of institutional vacuum, the government spokesperson argued that the delay entailed the choice of suitable professional profiles”

The socialist spokesperson rejects the values ??of this general director “who in networks advocates denialism, denies sexist violence and defends the legacy of the dictator Franco.” For this reason, he has announced that his group will request the dismissal of the general director if Azcón does not dismiss her sooner and regrets “having a new position again that, like the president of the Cortes, once again calls into question the image of Aragon”.

His appointment was echoed by the Spanish Association of Veteran Mountain Soldiers with the following message: “The Government of Aragon appointed, yesterday, as General Director of Justice of the Department of Territorial Development, Depopulation and Justice our partner from the Delegate Section of Zaragoza Ms. Esmeralda Pastor Estrada, who is one of our latest registered members”.

“From here we wish him much success and success in his new responsibility, which he will surely undertake with the spirit of improvement that distinguishes all good mountain veterans. Congratulations Esmeralda from your AESVM colleagues! The Mountain Unites us!”, concluded the aforementioned statement.

Esmeralda Pastor is a lawyer by profession and her general management is included in the Ministry of Territorial Development, Depopulation and Justice, whose head, with the rank of first vice president, is the leader of Vox in Aragon, Alejandro Nolasco.

In the aforementioned household item from the association of veteran soldiers, the new Director General of Justice appears next to a Spanish flag, but, since it is not complete, the eagle is not seen as a pre-constitutional Francoist symbol.
