March starts out much as February ended with showers and cool temps. We should see some breaks in the clouds by the afternoon and some clearing by Wednesday night. Expect a high today of 51 degrees.
Some high pressure will build into the Pacific Northwest later today causing showers to end for most of the metro area by mid afternoon. With clearing possible tonight, and a modest inversion in place, fog should form (especially south of the Portland metro area) and could be dense for some areas.
Thursday will start out foggy for Salem southward with some fog in the metro area as well. The next Pacific frontal system approaches from the Northwest later that morning. Expect plenty of clouds Thursday with a high near 50 degrees and some showers.
Friday looks very wet with a 90 percent chance of rain (yeah, meaning rain all day) and a high of 50.
A cooler air mass is behind that Pacific front and will cause snow levels to drop back down into the foothills by Saturday. The weekend looks to be cold and rainy with snow showers above 1000 feet.
