Half a thousand Spaniards living in London, according to the organizers – about 200 according to other estimates – joined the protests that are taking place in Spain with a rally in front of the embassy in the Belgravia neighborhood, under the slogan “Amnesty No , Equality Yes. The Rule of Law is in danger” (“Amnesty No, Equality Yes. The rule of law is in danger”).

“How can we maintain the integrity of our legal system if we allow acts that go against our laws to go unpunished?” lamented those gathered in their manifesto, coming from the most distant parts of the United Kingdom.
“It is increasingly difficult for us to explain the Spanish political situation to our British colleagues and other nationalities,” explained Andrés Cervera, spokesperson for the Iberian London Club, defined as a “cultural and apolitical association” made up of friends and residents in the capital. British.
“On the other hand, we are concerned about the progressive deterioration of the institutions in Spain, especially the attack on the judiciary,” added Cervera, who decided to organize the rally in response to the frustration he has perceived in the Spanish community due to the impossibility of physically joining. to the protests.
“Our intention is to convey the concern of Spaniards residing abroad about government pacts that endanger the rule of law, equality between Spaniards and their equality before the law,” Cervera concluded.
