Paris “condemned”, Saturday December 16, an Israeli bombing in the Gaza Strip which caused the death of an agent of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“It is with great emotion that the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs learned of the death of one of its agents, who died as a result of his injuries during an Israeli bombing in Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip,” the Quai d’Orsay said in a statement in the evening.

“We demand that all light be shed by the Israeli authorities on the circumstances of this bombing, as quickly as possible,” demands the French ministry.

Around ten victims

The agent who had worked for France since 2002, and whose identity and nationality were not specified, had found refuge in the house of one of his colleagues at the French consulate general, alongside two other colleagues. and members of their family. This house was hit by an Israeli bombing on Wednesday evening, causing around ten victims.

Part of the agent’s family was able to leave Gaza for France, as part of the evacuation system put in place by France which included the French present in the Gaza Strip, agents of the French Institute and their beneficiaries.

“France condemns this bombing of a residential building which caused the death of many other civilians,” adds the ministry.
